Refund Policies
Tuition refund for full-semester and special-term classes
If a student withdraws from one or more full-semester or special term classes, tuition is refunded according to a designated formula. All refunds are calculated as of the date the withdrawal is received in person or online. For more information, contact the Kekaulike Information and Service Center for registration, drop/withdrawal, and tuition refund deadlines for special term classes.
Note: If you withdraw from a class during the refund period, the refunded amount will be credited to your student account.
Student activity and publication fees refund
- Complete withdrawal within the first week of instruction: 100% refund
- Complete withdrawal after the first week of instruction: No refund
- Partial withdrawal: No refund
- Refunds of less than one dollar will not be made.
Note: Student activity and publication fees will be refunded only if you completely withdraw from ALL University of Hawaii classes-not just the KCC classes-for the semester.
Refunds for PCC and PCM class fees
Full refunds will not be made once classes begin. The last day for a full refund is the last working day before the first day of instruction.
Refunds may be allowed in cases where it is determined that the student was not appropriately placed or for extenuating medical emergencies that result in the student being unable to attend the class during the first week of the semester.
Students should contact the Holomua Department Chair and provide necessary written documentation. The Chair's decision is final. The deadline for such appeals is the Last Day to Register, Add or Change Full Semester Class Sections. No exceptions will be made after this date.
Refunds for canceled classes
If a class is canceled, students will be automatically dropped from the class and credited 100% of their tuition and fees for the class. Refund amounts will vary depending on the student's total credit load.
Credit balance refunds
Students showing a credit balance in their KCC student accounts will be refunded after the end of the refund period. A check will be mailed to the address on file in KISC. Refunds for payments made by charge cards will be credited to the charge card account. Once KCC releases the charge credit to the bank, it is not responsible for the bank's method of processing the charge credit. This process takes 4-6 weeks. Outstanding financial obligations will further delay the processing of refunds.
